Jobs and Occupations Worksheets

Connect English job names with the work people do using printable vocabulary activities. Choose a jobs word search, matching definitions or sentence gaps. The preview and separate answer key help you check the language before using the task in class.

Vocabulary to review before the worksheet

Examples from the topic vocabulary: teacher, doctor, nurse, dentist, chef, baker. The words on a generated worksheet depend on your selected settings.

Before you print: introduce the topic

Introduce job words through short, neutral clues about work. Invite learners to suggest a job for each clue, then check the English term together. Keep the discussion about fictional people so learners do not need to describe family members or their employment.

Use the worksheet in your lesson

Matching is useful when you want learners to connect an occupation with a definition. Ask them to underline or repeat the clue that led to the answer. For less reading, start with a word search after reviewing meanings, then use one or two definitions as a shared follow-up.

Follow up with speaking or listening

Play a short “Who am I?” activity in pairs. One learner gives a clue about a job and the other guesses. Let learners consult the reviewed vocabulary when needed and encourage different people in different jobs rather than linking occupations to stereotypes.

Choose support for your learners

Beginner job names can come with definitions that need more reading support. Use the preview to check each activity and choose a manageable number of items rather than assuming the vocabulary label describes the entire task.
