School Supplies Worksheets

Connect classroom objects to the English words learners see and use during a lesson. Create a school supplies word search, match words to clues or work with sentence gaps. Printable PDFs and separate answer pages support a quick vocabulary review.

Vocabulary to review before the worksheet

Examples from the topic vocabulary: pencil, chalk, eraser, ruler, notebook, textbook. The words on a generated worksheet depend on your selected settings.

Before you print: introduce the topic

Show a few familiar classroom objects or draw them on the board. Let learners name them before introducing unfamiliar spellings. Hide one object and ask the group what is missing; this creates a reason to retrieve the word before the worksheet begins.

Use the worksheet in your lesson

Use matching when learners can read the definitions with support, or a word search to review spellings. Ask pairs to compare a difficult item and point to the clue that helped. Check the preview because a familiar object name does not make every definition easy.

Follow up with speaking or listening

Give pairs an imaginary school bag to pack. They choose useful items and tell another pair what they included. If suitable, practise a request such as “Can I borrow a ruler?” using words they have just reviewed rather than adding a new grammar explanation.

Choose support for your learners

Classroom vocabulary varies across varieties of English. Preview words such as eraser and notebook and discuss the terms your class normally uses. Select the worksheet format that supports your learners’ reading skills.
