Vocabulary to review before the worksheet
Examples from the topic vocabulary: rain, snow, hail, sleet, fog, mist. The words on a generated worksheet depend on your selected settings.
Before you print: introduce the topic
Show or draw two contrasting weather scenes and ask learners which words they know in English. Check meanings before introducing the worksheet, especially for similar terms such as fog and mist. Keep a short word list available if the topic is new.
Use the worksheet in your lesson
With matching or sentence gaps, invite learners to explain which clue distinguishes one weather word from another. Read completed sentences together during correction. A word search can follow the meaning work as a brief review of the written forms rather than an introduction to unfamiliar words.
Follow up with speaking or listening
Ask pairs to prepare a short report for an imaginary day or place using two reviewed words. They can draw a symbol for each word before speaking. Extend with clothing vocabulary only if those words and the linking language are already familiar to the group.
Choose support for your learners
Choose a small set if learners are meeting several similar weather words for the first time. Revisit contrasting meanings during checking, then adapt the follow-up to the vocabulary and reading confidence of your class.
